For more than a decade, our laboratory has stood among Cambodia's most established names in materials testing and geotechnical investigation: an independent practice built on technical rigour, impartiality and an uncompromising commitment to the accuracy of every result we issue.

Joining IMECS in April 2026 was not about changing what has made MATLAB dependable, but about developing it: investing in our people, our methods and our instrumentation so that we can serve larger and more complex projects with the same care we bring to a single material test.

Whatever the scale of your project, our commitment remains unchanged: reliable, traceable and defensible results, delivered on time, by people who take quality seriously.

Our story

From MATLAB Co., Ltd. to Licence No. 0001

Founded in 2014, MATLAB grew through demanding work across Cambodia's construction, infrastructure and mineral-resource sectors. Since 1 April 2026 the laboratory has been operated by IMECS (Cambodia) Co., Ltd., a geoscience and engineering consultancy, keeping the MATLAB name, team, equipment and quality system.

The integration adds mineral and metal analysis, advanced geotechnical interpretation and fully integrated field investigation, backed by IMECS's exploration geology, geophysics, UAV/GNSS survey and environmental advisory teams.

  2. 2017ISO 9001:2015 certification of the quality management system for soil investigation and testing of construction materials.
  3. APR 2026Integrated into IMECS (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. Name, team, equipment and QMS retained.
  4. AUG 2026Registered Conformity Assessment Body with GDAC / CANC, GDAC-RCAB/0025/2026.
  5. SEP 2026General Construction Laboratory License No. 0001 from MLMUPC, the first issued in Cambodia, valid to September 2029.
  6. NEXTISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation in active preparation.

Led by a PhD geotechnical engineer, run by technicians with a decade on the MATLAB bench

Geotechnical and foundation engineering; 8+ years in research, laboratory QA/QC and infrastructure. Signs every certificate.

Mr. Nim Vannda Laboratory Operations Manager

10+ years in engineering survey, construction and site operations. Coordinates field and laboratory delivery.

Mr. Eub Phally Laboratory Engineer

Leads materials testing and quality-control processes; progressed from trainee to lead technical role.

Mr. Pat Phalla Senior Laboratory Technician

12+ years in laboratory testing, supporting geotechnical and materials programmes since 2015.

Mr. Lek Saolim Laboratory Technician

10+ years in laboratory and field sample processing. Named technical director on the MLMUPC licence.

12+ years conducting laboratory tests and preparing test reports.
