Concrete, Cement and Masonry Testing
MATLAB Materials Laboratory is a licensed concrete testing laboratory in Phnom Penh. We test concrete cubes and cylinders for compressive strength, cut and test cores from existing structures, design and trial concrete mixes, and test fresh concrete on site for slump, temperature, unit weight and air content. A 3000 kN compression frame handles high-strength concrete up to C60.
Cube and cylinder programmes for contractors and ready-mix suppliers are scheduled around your pours, with a named technician for site sampling under a framework account. We also test bricks, concrete blocks, AAC blocks, grout and cement, and assess hardened concrete in place with rebound hammer, UPV and cover meter surveys.

How it works
- Quotation: send the specification clause or test list; the quotation names each standard and unit price.
- Sampling: deliver samples to #271, Street 1964, Sen Sok, Phnom Penh, or book our crew for site sampling anywhere in Cambodia.
- Testing and report: tests are run to the named method and the signed report is issued on completion, with results against the specified limits.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a concrete cube test cost?
Cube compressive strength is priced per cube on our 2026 schedule; quotations show the unit price and the standard (BS EN 12390-3). Discounted standing rates apply under a framework account.
Cube or cylinder: which should we cast?
Cast whichever your specification calls for. British and European specifications (BS EN) use 150 mm cubes; American specifications (ASTM, ACI) use 150 x 300 mm cylinders. We test both and can convert where the specification allows.
Can you test concrete in an existing building?
Yes. We core and test specimens to ASTM C42, and complement them with non-destructive rebound hammer, ultrasonic pulse velocity, carbonation and cover meter surveys to map strength across the structure.
Do you do concrete mix design?
Yes, to ACI 211.1 with trial mixes to ASTM C192, including slump, air content and strength at age for the approved mix.
